Academy for the intensive training of
chamber music and solo performance
The Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend in Baden-Württemberg Ochsenhausen is a unique center devoted exclusively to the musical training of young-aspiring artists. Founded in 1986, the music center is accommodated in the historical imperial former Benedictine abbey of Ochsenhausen, first mentioned in 1093 and often referred to as “Himmelreich des Barocks”, the “Baroque Heaven”. The mission and purpose of the Landesakademie is in nurturing and developing talented and outstanding young musicians from throughout Germany as well as being a major center for European cultural and international exchange. For over 35 years, the Landesakademie has reaped a wealth of experience promoting high artistic projects and ideas that have brought together young developing musicians with outstanding and accomplished musical leaders to live, study, and make music together in this special environment.
III. International Chamber Music Academy in partnership with the Landesakademie in Ochsenhausen, Germany, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, USA
The International Chamber Music Academy in Ochsenhausen is a new training program and performance festive event for highly gifted young artists from throughout the world. Spanning two weeks in July, the academy takes place in the idyllic former abbey at Ochsenhausen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, amidst the historical castles, medieval villages and scenic alpine mountains of Southern Germany. The mission of the academy is to offer a transformational and inspirational experience for all involved, and to bring musicians from Europe and America together to instigate change in the world of music, while drawing on and respecting its great traditions.
Representing the full spectrum of chamber works for strings, winds, and piano, the repertoire encompasses all musical styles from the Baroque to the Avant-garde. Academy faculty consist of internationally renowned artists-professors who teach both solo repertoire and perform in “side-by-side” ensembles with young artists.
The work of the academy culminates in festive concerts, public workshops and masterclasses in the magnificent Baroque Bibliothekssaal of the Landesakademie Ochsenhausen, and in important and unique concert venues throughout historical Southern Germany.
